Ex Morning Musume leader and member Mari Yaguchi has once again gotten herself in a scandal. This time she’s caught being romantically involved with Japanese actor Takuji Kawakubo. Takuji, who appears in TBS’s show “Ultraman Nexus” was caught leaving Mari’s home in the morning in the middle of this month, and the two have been spotted together on other occasions.

The 25 year old idol / talent (a term the Japanese use to loosely describe entertainer) first got into trouble back in ‘05 when it was revealed that she was dating the handsome actor Shun Oguri, which resulted in her expulsion from Morning Musume (well, publicly she stepped down but we all knew what the real deal was). Regardless whether you agree or not, in Japan’s ultra conservative showbiz world it is forbidden for an idol to have any romantic relationship, at least in public. Once any scandal is revealed it usually means a career death sentence. And believe me every idol, major or minor, understands that. Like the saying goes, “you wanna play, you gotta pay.”

I don’t understand why Mari would be so careless to be caught again, especially now that she’s been enjoying pretty good success after getting a new lease on her career by being allowed to go “solo”.

According to reports Mari Yaguchi and Takuji Kawakubo first met at a party last summer. I wonder if it was at another one of Atsushi Tamura’s (of London Boots) mixer parties. Of course both of their agencies gave the typical reply, “they’re just friends.”

You never know what’s going to come out of that wacky place called Japan. Recently the beer meisters at Kirin Brewery brewed up the idea of having a hot mug of beer during the cold winter season.

How’s this for a winter treat?

Kirin’s latest concoction is based on their Ichiban Shibori Stout dark beer and is currently being test marketed in house at their main brewery in Yokohama. Kirin suggests serving the beverage at 50 degree Celsius (about 122 degree Fahrenheit) with a cinnamon stick and brown sugar cubes on the side. When you’re ready to drink you should stir the beer to give it a frothy head like cappuccino, which brings out its flavorful aroma.

According to Kirin they chose the Ichiban Shibori Stout series because this premium dark beer is made with carefully selected blend of caramel and roasted barley, then twice filtered. The result is an irresistible and luxurious deep aroma that’s further accentuated by the heating process.

Kirin also mentioned about serving the heated stout over vanilla ice cream…hot stout beer float anyone?

Just like I wrote in the blog last week, Japanese “talent” and former 90s big tits gravure idol Mariya Yamada formally announced her marriage to singer / actor Tooru Sano in Tokyo on Monday. By her side was the famous ex Yellow Cab Production big cheese “Mr. Big Tits Revolutionary” and current Suns Entertainment president Yoshiharu Noda aka “Noda shacho”.

Mariya Yamada has always had a good relationship with Noda shacho. Soon after she began dating back in ‘05 she informed Noda shacho of her courtship. At that time Noda shacho actually told her, “It’s okay to marry the guy if you’ve dated him for 3 years. But you should look after your younger brother until he graduates from high school.” Mariya’s younger brother will graduate this spring.

I’m impressed with Mariya because unlike many Japanese celebrities she chose to keep her wedding fanfare rather low key. She and her fiance bought their wedding bands in a Tokyo department store like ordinary couples back in November and the pair cost “only” $1200. She said at the press conference that marriage isn’t about money. I’m glad the Japanese entertainment world has at least a few clear headed women like her!

Saki Seto - Technically the 22 year old gravure model is no longer with Suns Entertainment. She mysteriously dropped off the Japanese entertainment map since summer of last year after rumor surfaced about a romantic link with troubled entrepreneur Masahiro Origuchi of the failed Goodwill Group. Nobody has been able to reach Saki and Noda shacho has said he didn’t consider her retired but permanently inactive. What a damn shame!

Is “one-kei” (older sister / sexy young lady style) Hikaru Kawamura turning AV?

It has been reported that Japanese gravure idol and swimsuit model Hikaru Kawamura is suing her boss Yoshiharu Noda, the president of Suns Entertainment and former boss of Yellow Cab Production for coercing her into performing in undesirable projects.

Yoshiharu Noda, the godfather and pioneer of Japan’s “kyonyu boom” (big tits / busty craze). I think as Japanese gravure idol lovers we should all bow down to him and pay our respect!

Rumor began flying at the end of last year that a certain well known Japanese idol / gravure model would make her debut in AV in the beginning of 2008. It appears that the 28 year old Hikaru Kawamura is the girl (I use that term loosely) in question.

According to close source, the filming and other related production was completed in October of last year. A major Japanese AV production company was put in charge of the project and Hikaru appeared nude and in several racy scenes. However, Hikaru’s boss president Noda and other people associated with the project denied that the film is AV.

You can see president Yoshiharu Noda in the background. He’s a very hands-on boss often accompanying his girls to photo shoots and dishing out advice & directions.

The project was supposed to include a movie, photo book and a DVD release. But the casting for the movie never moved forward and Hikaru Kawamura refused to do the photo book portion. For now it looks like only the DVD will go on sale sometime this month. Although the contents of the DVD were changed / edited many times at Hikaru’s insistence, in the end she still loathed having to appear.

It makes me wonder what famous Japanese AV company was contracted to film Hikaru…was it Moodyz, Soft On Demand or Alice Japan?

What makes this whole thing more complicated is that the lawsuit Hikaru filed against her boss is criminal, and not the civil case this type of confrontation usually falls under. Does this illustrate just how upset Hikaru is or purely a marketing ploy at a failed project?

Whatever the problem may be, this is a big project Hikaru signed on that’s worth a total of $1.5 million. Personally I think the damn bitch should quit complaining and just do her part, considering the fact that 1) she’s not *that* popular to command such diva attitude 2) being 28 in Japan and still trying to do gravure is really, really pushing it 3) I believe she has done some V Cinema work (Japanese soft core porn like Playboy movies) and 4) she’ll still get paid royally after the pie is split.

It has been revealed that 90s Japanese pin-up model turned actress Mariya Yamada will most likely get married next month. Her fiance is 40 year old stage actor Tooru Sano. The two began dating a few years ago shortly after Mariya sought his advice regarding acting (heheh…how convenient!).

A major Japanese tabloid has exposed a romantic link between the beautiful Japanese model turned actress Ryoko Yonekura and popular Japanese comedian Atsushi Tamura of London Boots. The couple was spotted dating in the posh Tokyo district of Roppongi in early December. Reportedly Atsushi gleefully told his co-workers that “spring has arrived for me”, which in Japanese means he’s fallen in love.

He’s also famous for arranging mixer parties for Japanese celebrities and entertainers, one of them resulted in the infamous meeting between ex- Morning Musume leader Miki Fujimoto and Tomoharu Shoji of the comedy duo Shinagawa Shoji.

On a recent episode of Fuji TV’s “Mecha Iketeru” variety show they even made fun of Atsushi by sticking a photo of him and Ryoko together on his forehead with the caption that read “I’m the dude who beat out Ebizo!” (note: top kabuki performers in Japan are treated like rock stars) It is believed that the couple first got to work together in the beginning of last year on London Boot’s show “London Hearts” airing on TV Asahi and that’s when sparks flew.
