Maki Goto Jumps Ship
Fixed to appease some of you passionate Maki fans –> This just in from an unconfirmed source! Former super popular Morning Musume and Hello!Project artist Maki Goto has signed with Japanese record giant AVEX. “GoMaki”, as she’s often referred to in Japan was a 3rd generation member of Morning Musume. Her solo career took off after “graduating” from Japan’s most popular all girl group back in 2001. However, Maki had announced that she was leaving Hello!Project (and her handler Up Front Agency) last fall due to differences in the direction for her career she had with Up Front Agency, plus she was entangled in personal trouble over the arrest of both her younger brother (former EE Jump member Yuki Goto) and her boyfriend.
Maki will release her first single under the AVEX Trax sub label “Rhythm Zone” on May 7th titled “Necessary”. I think what’s “necessary” for her is to drop that loser boyfriend of hers immediately! This time the sexy 22 year old Maki has teamed up with well-known Japanese producer AKIRA who’s worked wonders for hit artist BoA. The B-side of her single will be a cover of famous Japanese singer / songwriter Keizo Nakanishi’s “You and I”, which was originally release back in 1993.
Hopefully by switching over to Avex Maki Goto will have more freedom with her music

It could be argued that, from the start, Gomaki’s style was never really H!P material to begin with. Wish her the best.

she doesn’t have a ‘loser boyfriend’ to drop, unless you believe all that crap that are fed by those underground press (according to which she has ‘dropped’ this loser bf of hers…)
but if this news is true then i’m well excited for her…
though i’m still taking it with a grain of salt for now~~

Haha I wasn’t expecting to receive such strong reaction! I guess people do read our blog! And it goes to show there are still plenty of Maki fans.
I do have my sources but I’m sorry I do not always reveal them. However, I never falsely report something or put out anything misleading on purpose.

It’s actually a rumor. I read that in other site and I googled and came here looking for something that verifies it lol.

John’s source is legit. Let’s just say he’s one of the few guys I know who are in the “know” if you get my drift.
And he really wouldn’t mislead you guys. He’s pretty passionate about this stuff. Stay tuned because I know just tonight when we were chatting, he said he’s looking at some other news.

But what’s supposed to mean “in the know”? Does John work for a Japanese music label? Knows someone who does? Something? He could be a reliable source, but announcing any news without sources, or at least without something we might digest as reliable is not always a good idea. Specially when the link in 2ch says also about this news that Maki’s switching labels on April 1st, which is the Fools’ Day. And also when John posts a well-known photoshopped picture of Maki.
I don’t want to be mean, but we need more than this; otherwise, it’s just a rumor and perhaps an April fools’ joke.

You may want to change your opening line to: “This just in from rumor-spreading freak at 2ch!”
This story is quite irresponsible… it needs to be labeled as rumor, because that’s all it is right now. It originated from a random poster at 2ch with no source to back it up.

Ok fellas, I changed the wording in the post to reflect what I’ve learned may not be completely true, since we’re receiving some heated comments over this particular blog. However, my source never mentioned anything about April 1st and please keep in mind the practice of April Fool isn’t very common in Japan.
I can appreciate how deep all of your interest in Maki might be. Heck, I’m a H!P fan myself too! But I’d like to point out that Jay and I set out to create something fun while peppering our visitors with interesting tidbits here and there. The blog is what it is, for entertainment.
