Aya Takashima Crowned No.1 Announcer Again

For the 5th year in a row, “Princess of Fuji TV” Aya Takashima retains the title as the most popular Japanese female TV announcer!

Japanese music & entertainment ranking / data compiling authority Oricon (オリコン) released the latest finding last week on who commands the most viewership and the 29 year old still came out on top as the most want to be watched newscaster in Japan.  Nicknamed “Ayapan” (アヤパン), many people interviewed replied that they’re impressed with her wide range of specialties, stable reporting skills and quick thinking.

Emerging in second place was NTV’s Yukari Nishio who has been moving up in the top ten rank in the last 2 years.  Japanese viewers love the Chiba Prefecture native’s cheery smile in the morning, on spot comments and knowledge.  Not surprisingly, “Darling of Fuji TV” Minako Nakano who boasts legions of fans rounded out the top 3 spot with her warm smile and charming personality.

Japanese Idol Actress Shiori Kutsuna

Meet the newest “Pocky Girl”, Japanese idol and actress Shiori Kutsuna (忽那汐里). Born and raised in Australia, the 15 year old cutie was selected to be the 50th generation Pocky Princess. The same distinctive honor was also given to popular Japanese idol actress Yui Aragaki a couple years ago which greatly helped boost her to stardom.

The U-15 teen idol moved to Japan 2 years ago to pursue her showbiz career and currently belongs to Japanese entertainment agency powerhouse Oscar Promotion (オスカープロモーション).

Shiori got her first major break when she received the Special Recognition Prize at the 2006 All Japan National Girl Beauty Contest (全日本国民的美少女コンテスト). She followed up that good fortune with an appearance on J pop unit Orange Range’s video “Oshare Bancho” featuring Soy Sauce. Shiori has also landed a role on Fuji TV’s drama “Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu” / Homeroom on the Beach Side (太陽と海の教室) this past summer along side with Kii Kitano.

Yoko Maki Pregnant

Can you say another one bites the dust? In keeping up with the current trend among Japanese celebrities of unplanned pregnancy and shotgun wedding, popular Japanese actress and idol Yoko Maki (真木よう子) has joined the not so honorable list.

The Chiba Prefecture native who just turned 26 boasts a pretty face, super slender body yet succulent huge 90cm G cup tits! Her management agency announced yesterday that the actress who put herself on the map with her role as the sexy special task force police captain in the 2007~2008 Fuji TV drama “SP” registered her marriage on the 11th. The lucky dude who has the pleasure of penetrating Yoko is also 26 years of age, former Japanese actor Reo Katayama (片山怜雄), a regular bloke no longer related to the entertainment industry.

New Fuji TV Announcers

Meet the 2 freshest faces of Japanese TV station Fuji TV! I only wish half of the announcers / newscasters in the States look as cute as them.

In line with the “young girls are preferred” tradition on Japanese TV, this past Monday Fuji TV (フジテレビ) unveiled their 2 latest beauties who joined the company this year.

23 year old Ayako Kato (加藤綾子) received her education from Kunitachi College of Music (国立音楽大学) and has been playing the piano for 17 years. Fuji TV handed the lucky Saitama Prefecture native the coveted host position of “Katopan” (カトパン), a weekday late night show that bears her name and will kick start tomorrow.

Keiko Tsubakihara (椿原慶子) who turns 23 later this month also brings with her good pedigree, having gone through her entire education from junior high school to college with the famous Sacred Heart University (聖心女子大学) system. Keiko got her own show as well. “Ana-ban” (アナ★バン!) will air every Sunday night starting on the 19th.

At the press conference the nervous Ayako Kato said she’d like to interview musician Nao Matsushita who also graduated from her alma mater on her show. Keiko Tsubakihara on the other hand daringly brought up the request of doing a show together with Ayako at an overseas location.

Pirates Return

For one night only the popular 90s gravure idol duo “Pirates” (パイレーツ) will appear together on Fuji TV’s variety show VocaBra Tengoku Special (ボキャブラ天国). Pirates, the name a play off Japanese slang for tits (pai), was composed of Yoshimi Asada (浅田好未) and Haruka Nishimoto (西本はるか), both were still in their teen when they made their debut but both were already blessed with E and F cup tits.

Yoshimi’s soft F cup tits are just as creamy and inviting now as when she was a 17 year old who was selected as the runner up of Miss Young Magazine 1997 (ミスヤングマガジン) gravure contest. I can’t wait to see Yoshimi and Haruka’s ample bosom on TV again!

A happy Fourth of July weekend! Even though some of us still had to work or got called in to clean up the mess other people left behind (ahem!), Jay and I are determined to celebrate the occasion by throwing you hot and lovely babes all weekend long!

Ai Kago Officially Back

Ai Kago will be making her return to Japanese TV this Friday on Fuji TV

Former Morning Musume and super popular Japanese idol Ai Kago (加護亜衣) announced on her blog last Friday that she’s officially back in Japanese showbiz! Affectionately called “Aibon” or “Kago-chan” by her fans, the 20 year old cutie revealed she’ll make her first Japanese TV appearance since her second smoking scandal more than 2 years ago.

Ai Kago is going to be the guest on Japanese showbiz icon Sanma Akashiya’s Fuji TV late night variety show “Sanma no Manma” (さんまのまんま) this Friday. On the show Aibon will talk about her downward spiral, her road to recovery, her succeeding in losing 22 pounds and her current status as a bona fide Japanese actress and “talent”. Aibon has recently returned from Hong Kong after completing her role in “Super Chef” (スーパーシェフ), her first movie since her comeback. The film will be shown in Hong Kong this fall and be in theaters in Japan next April.

Ai Kago has also began filming a historic suspense drama with NTV (Nippon TV) in the ancient capitol of Kyoto since returning to Japan.  She plays a princess and from the leaked press photos I’ve seen she looked absolutely adorable!  Upon her return she was asked about the rumor of her and former Morning Musume member Maki Goto (current AVEX artist) forming a new unit.  Aibon responded that it was also the first time for her to hear such speculation but she’d welcome it.

Peachy’s, Part 2

More photos of the new Japanese lip singing idol unit “Peachy’s”. 3 popular gravure idols – Yuka Kosaka, Akina Minami and Rina Akiyama have come together to form this unique “no singing” group, a first in J-pop history.

The idea for Peachy’s came from Fuji TV’s Monday late night variety show “Jodeki! Pop Company Pop-ya” (～ジョーデキ！POP COMPANY～ POP屋)

The three cute Japanese pin-up girls were keeping it real, though. Rina Akiyama aka “Oshirina” (オシリーナ) whose claim to fame is her petite yet beautifully shaped ass said, “When I heard my own voice I thought, ‘Oh, this is bad.’!” The sexy Japanese gravure doll Yuka Kosaka aka “Kosakana” (コサカーナ) laughed, “We tried practicing but it was pretty disappointing. It’d be nice if one of us has a nice voice.” The cheerful Akina Minami aka “Akkina” (アッキーナ) added, “I don’t care, I like our group this way. We’d like to start a new lip singing craze!”

Peachy’s had their second mini “live” concert in Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City (池袋サンシャインシティ) at the end of last month. The girls were pretty nervous but showed off their lip synching (口パク) skills in front of about 2000 fans. Yuka, Akina and Rina finished the performance with their upcoming single “My Baby Boy” which is scheduled to drop on August 6th.

Mystery solved!

While I was walking around the Fuji TV headquarters building in Odaiba during my recent Japan trip I noticed some type of live event was being held at the plaza below at street level. Curious, I got closer to take a better look and see what all the commotion was about. A sizable crowd had gathered in front of a temporary stage where 3 girls dressed in similar flashy 1 piece dress outfits were doing some song & dance routine. In the backdrop on stage was a sign that said “Peachy’s”, which I had never heard of before.

Naturally I whipped out my beat up but trusty camera and aimed for the stage. But I was told by what appeared to be an event staff to keep moving as I was getting ready to take some snap shots that would’ve been worthy of a “Tokyo moment”. At that time I was by the very side of the stage, just outside the fenced off area where the audience was. I thought they just wanted to keep the foot traffic moving so I walked toward the pack and took out my camera again.

However as I was adjusting the frame and the zoom once again I was interrupted by some event staff with a badge. This time I heard what he was saying, “I’m sorry but there’s no photography allowed.” I was really puzzled, since right before I got idol-blocked I saw a couple people passing by taking pictures with their cell phones. I wondered maybe it was my lack of understanding of the Japanese language or perhaps they didn’t want me taking pictures from that particular spot and get in the way because I did see a camera crew filming the event. I said to myself, “third time’s the charm” as I moved to the right side of the audience and attempted to snap up some juicy exclusive photos for all you Sleepy John readers.

Sorry guys, in the end I wasn’t able to provide any shots of my own. But this is what Peachy’s first mini concert looked like.

What do you know…this time a dude in a suit came up and rudely idol-blocked me even before I pointed my camera in the right direction! I MEAN WTF?!?! What’s the big friggin’ deal if their objective was to promote the group? I know I wasn’t back home in the States, but common sense would dictate that everything’s fair game out in the public. And I certainly considered this outdoor event by the street to fall under public domain! Am I off on this?

I got frustrated and upset about silly little trivial things the Japanese insist on doing like this one so I split without taking any pictures. But now thinking about it maybe I should’ve just played the “dumb gaijin” card and ignored them!

To make sense of all this, the dream idol unit “Peachy’s” consists of Japanese gravure idol Yuka Kosaka (小阪由佳), Akina Minami (南明奈) and Rina Akiyama (秋山莉奈), who also often appear on Japanese TV shows. Peachy’s claim to fame would be, “We’re not singing!” The project was born half jokingly out of Fuji TV’s late night TV show “Jodeki! Pop Company Pop-ya” (～ジョーデキ！POP COMPANY～ POP屋). The cute Japanese idol trio has gained so much following that they’ll release their first single titled “My Baby Boy” later on this summer!

Yukina Kinoshita Bikini

Yukina Kinoshita (木下優樹菜) is a fast rising Japanese gravure idol and fashion model. She was only scouted recently and became Japanese swimwear maker Sanai’s (三愛) “image girl”, or campaign spokesperson for the 2007 season while working at the mecca of Japanese fashion – Shibuya 109.

Here’s a tidbit, the tall and slender tomboyish native of Tokyo was a finalist in Morning Musume’s 5th generation audition (which resulted in the selection of Ai Takahashi, Asami Konno, Makoto Ogawa and Risa Niigaki)! I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of Yukina Kinoshita as the 20 year old recently made her TV drama acting debut on “Hachi One Diver” (ハチワンダイバー), currently airing on Fuji TV.

To combat “chikan” (痴漢), or train gropers, several Tokyo train and subway lines have designated certain train cars for female passengers only. This is the sign that’s posted on the window of said car. But look at who’s sitting in there haha!

The New York subway lines and the Tubes in London got nothing on Tokyo subway! Check out just how many lines and stations there are…and we’re not even including train lines!!

Kii Kitano (Kie Kitano)

I’ve got the cure for your Monday morning blue! Kii Kitano (北乃きい) is one of the hottest U-19 idols from Japan. The 17 year old cutie from Kanagawa Prefecture first made her presence known by winning the 2005 Miss Magazine (ミスマガジン) gravure Grand Prix. She then appeared in the 2006 controversial NTV drama “The 14 Year Old Mother” (14才の母), Fuji TV’s 2007 wild drama “Life” (ライフ), as well as starring in the hit movie “Kofuku na Shokutaku” (幸福な食卓) last year.

Here’s a few more pictures I took while salivating in the Land of the Rising Son (yes, pun intended)!

One of my favorite ramen joints in Tokyo…it was good to be back!

Okay, so this is not the best example and I was only able to get a few stealth shots of the school girls.  I’m not down with getting arrested for stalking and taking upskirt shots of every single uniform wearing cutie I saw!  But believe me I got my share of creamy thighs & plenty of panty flash!

Rainbow Bridge, the famous Tokyo landmark that leads to Odaiba

The man-made island of Odaiba (mostly from landfill) hosts various entertainment spots such as Decks Tokyo, Aqua City and Venus Fort in addition to Tokyo Big Sight convention center where all those cosplay anime conventions take place, Ariake Colosseum sports arena and several warehouses and industrial complexes. I have a strong suspicion that most of the trash Tokyo produces end up here as the island keeps expanding.
