Ai Kago Officially Back

Ai Kago will be making her return to Japanese TV this Friday on Fuji TV

Former Morning Musume and super popular Japanese idol Ai Kago (加護亜衣) announced on her blog last Friday that she’s officially back in Japanese showbiz! Affectionately called “Aibon” or “Kago-chan” by her fans, the 20 year old cutie revealed she’ll make her first Japanese TV appearance since her second smoking scandal more than 2 years ago.

Ai Kago is going to be the guest on Japanese showbiz icon Sanma Akashiya’s Fuji TV late night variety show “Sanma no Manma” (さんまのまんま) this Friday. On the show Aibon will talk about her downward spiral, her road to recovery, her succeeding in losing 22 pounds and her current status as a bona fide Japanese actress and “talent”. Aibon has recently returned from Hong Kong after completing her role in “Super Chef” (スーパーシェフ), her first movie since her comeback. The film will be shown in Hong Kong this fall and be in theaters in Japan next April.

Ai Kago has also began filming a historic suspense drama with NTV (Nippon TV) in the ancient capitol of Kyoto since returning to Japan.  She plays a princess and from the leaked press photos I’ve seen she looked absolutely adorable!  Upon her return she was asked about the rumor of her and former Morning Musume member Maki Goto (current AVEX artist) forming a new unit.  Aibon responded that it was also the first time for her to hear such speculation but she’d welcome it.

The 19 year old “Gakki” (ガッキー), as her fans affectionately call her is the product of Okinawa and used to be a Japanese teen magazine model. Yui is one of the hottest U-19 Japanese idols / talent alongside with Maki Horikita, Saki Fukuda and Kii Kitano. Nowadays you can see her appearing in various Japanese TV dramas as well as being the face of the “Pocky Girl”.

The images are from her photobook “Masshiro” (まっしろ) from last year that coincided with her high school graduation.

Ridiculous Japanese Prank

What would be the reaction from a cute Japanese girl if she were to accidently walk in on some dude spanking his monkey? I’m sure that is the question we’re all wondering about. Well, thanks to this wonderful Japanese TV show we now know the answer!

The video is self explanatory. Goofy Japanese prankster and comedian Rakkyo Ide pretends to give himself pleasure in the dressing room at a TV studio. His victims include super cute gravure idol Shoko Hamada and Oita Asahi announcer Miwako Nakashima. But when he got to his 3rd subject sexy female doctor / talent Ayako Nishikawa, the bold former Miss Japan wasn’t too impressed, Rakkyo knew he had to make some changes and demanded to let him do things “his way”. His improvisation had quite an impact, as you’ll see on the face of the 4th girl Aya Kiguchi who’s another hot gravure idol.

ZARD Is Still Alive

ZARD’s latest single 翼を広げて (Tsubasa wo Hirogete) will be featured in a Detective Conan movie

A previously unreleased song by Izumi Sakai, lead vocal of the Japanese rock band ZARD will be the theme song for the latest Detective Conan anime movie, “Meitantei Konan Senritsu no Gakufu” (Detective Conan, Score of Horror). Izumi Sakai was the voice and face of the somewhat mysterious unit that was extremely popular in the 90s. She passed away last May under cloudy circumstances while battling cervical cancer.

The song “Tsubasa wo Hirogete” (Spread Your Wings) was written by famous Japanese musician Tetsuro Oda and its lyrics penned by Miss Izumi Sakai herself. The animated movie will hit theaters across Japan this Saturday.

Oricon Girlfriend Ranking

Here’s a survey done by Japanese entertainment info and data authority Oricon at the end of last year on the top 10 female “talent” (a Japanese catch-all word for entertainer) that the Japanese men would love to have as their girlfriend. From the overall response it seems like the majority of men placed a big importance on the girl’s smile.

No.1 – Yui Aragaki (新垣結衣,)

Some of the reasons that shot the Okinawa native to the top included “I love her clean cut and cheery image” and “Her smile brings me peace”.

No.2 – Masami Nagasawa (長澤まさみ)

The 20 year old actress prompted comments such as “She looks like she can always give me energy” and “I can be happy with her because she is cheerful and honest”.

No.3 – Maki Horikita (堀北真希)

One of the most popular U-20 (under 20) Japanese actresses. She commanded a whopping 20% viewer rating on her latest Fuji TV drama “Hanazakari no Kimitachi e” and drew responses like “Her boyish charms got me”.

No.4 – Yukie Nakama (仲間 由紀恵)

The popular Okinawan actress of “Gokusen” and “Trick” fame is a former gravure idol and can carry a tune too.

No.5 – Haruka Ayase (綾瀬 はるか)

When asked about the big chested Horipro actress and gravure idol, one of the subjects surveyed answered, “Her smile is so cute”.

No.6 – Ai Otsuka (大塚 愛)

The mega popular AVEX recording artist elicited responses such as “I love her smile”.

No.7 – Aya Ueto (上戸 彩)

“I want to see her smile everyday” was one of the comments given about the “super idol” who excels at both acting and singing.

No.8 – Saki Aibu (相武紗季)

The 22 year old actress hails from Hyogo Prefecture in western Japan and is rumored to be dating Japanese heartthrob Tomoya Nagase.

No.9 – Aki Hoshino (ほしの あき)

Since it’s a fact we all love us some Japanese race queens (or umbrella girls, track ladies, whatever you want to call them) and today’s Friday, I’ve got a cutie honey pie coming your way!  The name is Midori Yamazaki, she is 25 years old and hails from Kochi Prefecture.

Midori-chan received the coveted Race Queen of the Year award for the 2006~2007 season after having worked at major Japanese racing events such as Super GT (formerly JGTC), Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance and F-1 Japan.  Previous winners include Miho Yoshioka and Chisato Morishita, both famous Japanese gravure and swimsuit models later turned “talent”.

In addition to looking sexy at the race tracks Midori also does web based gravure and has released a few gravure DVDs.  After being declared the winner, Midori said, “I’d like to be the queen of commercials too!”

Yoko Kumada Loves Sunblock

Japanese gravure idol and “talent” (a Japanese catch-all word to describe entertainer) Yoko Kumada promoted her latest DVD “Taiyo Sweets” this past Saturday in Tokyo.  While at the event she squashed rumors about her recent sudden weight loss.  The Gifu Prefecture native explained that she simply stopped eating all the rich food that’s provided while she’s on location shooting, started cooking more at home and just returned to the weight she had when she first made her debut.  Whatever she did, I still think she looks great!

The busty Yoko Kumada was once a goodwill ambassador for the Indonesian resort island of Bali also talked about her experience doing gravure work there.  According to the F cup beauty the sun in Bali is way stronger than Hawaii and the heat packs a powerful punch.  She had to apply sunblock lotion more in Bali than anywhere else.  As a matter of fact, the voluptuous gravure model and part time singer (she has 3 singles and 1 album under her belt) claimed that she uses up more sunblock lotion than anyone else in the industry with an average of 2 bottles per day when she’s out shooting!

Going by the rate that she shoots about 120 days in a year, that’s roughly 250 bottles of sunblock Yoko Kumada goes through!  No wonder Yoko said, “If given the chance, I’d like to be an ambassador for sunblock lotion!”

The self professed “M” (masochist) can be seen these days often appearing on talk shows.

At today’s press conference in Tokyo for the on stage play Mari’s participating in, the reporters tried to flood her with questions about her relationship with Ultraman Nexus actor Takuji Kawakubo but couldn’t get a straight answer from her in the end.

Saki Seto – Technically the 22 year old gravure model is no longer with Suns Entertainment. She mysteriously dropped off the Japanese entertainment map since summer of last year after rumor surfaced about a romantic link with troubled entrepreneur Masahiro Origuchi of the failed Goodwill Group. Nobody has been able to reach Saki and Noda shacho has said he didn’t consider her retired but permanently inactive. What a damn shame!

Chiriko Sakashita to Wed

Former Japanese pin-up girl, model and “talent” (a generic Japanese word used to refer to entertainers) Chiriko Sakashita has announced to the media via fax that she will register her marriage tomorrow.

The 31 year old leggy beauty has been dating her fiance for about 4 years and describes him as an “ordinary guy” (meaning not in showbiz). In the fax Chiriko wrote that she’s extremely happy right now, and she’s thankful that her fiance is willing to make her his wife even though she’s in showbiz.
