The single titled “Hayaku Shiteyo” (早くしてよ) is a cover of the 1994 hit song by Ruriko Kubo. By doing so Namie set a new Japanese music industry record for a solo female artist, reaching the Platinum status (selling over 1 million) while in 3 separate age groups…3 times when she was a teen, then when she was in her 20s and now after she turned 30!

Namie Amuro still has plenty of pull with music fans both domestically in Japan and abroad. She has come a long way from a cute, trend setting j-pop teenage star singing to poppy tunes and Eurodance music to a sultry and mature single mother who has since switched her focus toward R&B and hip-hop. “Best Fiction” sold another 153,000 copies this past week since being released on July 30th and has so far tallied up 1,092,000 sales. This latest album for the songstress from Okinawa is a compilation of 17 of her best hits and the addition of new hit singles such as “Do Me More” and “Sexy Girl”.

“Best Fiction” is also the first female album to keep the top spot for 3 weeks in a row since Kumi Koda’s “Black Cherry” back in January of ‘07.

AKB48 Member Ayaka Kikuchi Canned

Like many naive young girls who have fallen before her, Japanese idol Ayaka Kikuchi committed the cardinal sin of Japanese idol world by getting caught with a boy. And now she’s got to take the punishment.

Ayaka Kikuchi got the boot because of this “purikura”, or picture sticker. The writing says, “We’re always together these past 3 months.”

Ayaka Kikuchi (菊地彩香), B Team member of the popular Japanese idol group AKB48 finally got served her walking paper yesterday. AKB48’s official website didn’t give a clear explanation, only stating that “she had committed something that was unbecoming of an AKB48 member”. But it has been widely known that the 15 year old was caught having a romantic relationship with a boy, which is a huge no-no in Japan if you want to remain being an idol.

Nicknamed “Ayarin” (あやりん), the Tokyo native joined AKB48 in December of ‘06

Ayaka Kikuchi has been absent from all AKB48 activities since details and photos of the scandal were leaked on the internet late last month. All of her photos and information have been removed from the idol group’s website. Furthermore, AKB48’s official blog added the comment that the managing staff also feels a deep sense of responsibility and will provide “thorough education and guidance” to the girls’ lifestyle.

J pop superstar Ayumi Hamasaki is stripping down and showing some skin to pimp for Wacoal

Japanese underwear giant Wacoal (ワコール) announced today that mega Japanese diva Ayumi Hamasaki (浜崎あゆみ) will be their spokesperson for the Asian market. Well known in Asian countries, the queen of J pop appears in the promotional poster exposing plenty of her cleavage in sexy lingerie.

Ayumi wrote in her blog that she was unusually nervous the night before the photo shoot and couldn’t sleep. But since Mika Noguchi, president of the extremely popular Japanese intimate wear brand “Peach John” was the person behind the camera she felt the photo session was a success and the pictures came out better than she had thought.

Wacoal’s campaign with Ayumi Hamasaki will began in Taiwan, Korea and China at the end of this month but not in Japan for some reason. Vietnam will also get to see the scantily clad diva in January of ‘09.

Just when you thought the singing career of Eurasian gravure idol Leah Dizon ( リア・ディゾン) aka “The Blackship of Gravure” was a fluke, she’s back on Japan’s Oricon chart with her latest single “Vanilla”. It was just announced this past Friday that the song will be included in her upcoming 2nd album titled “Communication!!!” due to be released on August 20th.

This time around Leah didn’t just pen the lyrics herself, she’s also taken up the task of song writing. The super hot bikini model famous for her provocative poses says, “I think in order to express what I really feel, I need to be involved with every aspect. I face some language barrier so this is a good way for me to get my point across.”

Leah Dizon will kick off her solo Japan national concert tour in October and commented that she plans to apply what she learned from the live performance she did in Shibuya last year

The theme of Vidal Sassoon’s campaign is glamour and has the Japanese diva from Okinawa appearing as a sexy and sultry showgirl! The commercial uses Namie’s new single “Do Me More” which will be included in her latest album “Best Fiction” due to release at the end of this month.
